Prologue

This book is a cultural adaptation of a beloved poem by Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin. As a parent of children born in Canada, I hold Russian literature and its rich heritage close to heart.

However, my daughters may not have the same opportunity or desire to learn to read and write in Russian.

With that in mind, I’ve reimagined Pushkin’s poem for an English speaking audience, hoping that one day, this work will inspire my daughters to explore the vast beauty of Russian literature.

Testimonials

My daughter immediately told me, “Mama this is the translation to The Green Oak Tree,” she is four, and up to that point, she only knew the Russian version, not the Canadian rendition.
“I’ve wanted my sons to gain knowledge to Pushkin and his literature, the book has great illustrations to supplement the poem. A good intro to the famous poem, The Green Oak Tree.”
“Vibrant book for my kids! They thought it a coloring book and added their doodles to the illustrations. The fun and simple poem encourages creativity with good rhythm and rhyme.”
